The Age of Decadence

This is how branching storylines should be done - you choose your character build and your affiliations at the start of the game, and then you see where these choices can take you. The character skill-driven gameplay and the large amount of non-combat skillchecks serve to round off a great RPG experience. Fair warning: it's possible to build a character who simply cannot complete the game on their chosen path, especially on non-combat paths.

In nome di una sorta di "iperrealismo ruolistico" questo titolo risulta frustrante per il giocatore: spesso l'unico modo per superare una situazione è ricaricare e impostare diversamente le caratteristiche, perchè non si può deviare dal percorso specifico pensato dagli sviluppatori. Apprezzabile l'idea di avere un mondo che cambia a seconda delle scelte che si compiono, ma è tutto detto più che mostrato, per cui c'è poco coinvolgimento. Belle idee, ma realizzate maluccio.

This is an interesting game that forces you to commit to a playstyle based on how you build, but ultimately what this leads to is a lot of trial and error when your build makes you unable to complete the game. Combat is also really damn boring and limited. On the other hand, the game has some great world-building and there are some interesting moments in the plot to muse over. However, decision making is mostly one-dimensional and the plot structure is messy with clunky dialog.
