Not quite the pinnacle of couch co-op action RPG, but the character variety and beat 'em up gameplay definitely put this one at the top of the heap. Some of the RPG mechanics got in the way, so it wasn't an altogether seamless affair, and it took a whole lot of effort to get those alternate skins.

Quite simplistic and repetitive in single player, and feels surprisingly phoned in for a Raven release of that time.

A fun action-RPG sort of game where you get to spam your powers and watch lots of crates and scenery explode. If you put a tiny bit of thought into what a character's most useful power is before spending your points, it's a breeze. Don't come in expecting the variety or spectacle of later sequels, but what's here was plenty to play with at the time, with a nice big roster of characters with a pretty distinct feel, and a setup that lets you swap around and try them all out as you like.

I liked this one a lot actually for the PS2. A lot of characters in this one where you can power up and use different combinations of any 4 characters. Really cool game.

the sweet sound-effect of Wolverine busting park benches breaking in half is forever engrained in my memory. I'd say it's worth playing for that sound effect alone

The game that launched a whole subtype of games for awhile, X-Men Legends is a classic. Its not as good as the sequel or the Marvel: UA games that came after, but it was a solid game and a lot of other games tried to copy it.
