70 14% Gears 5 (2019) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"Here's the thing: I don't remember having any issues with the gameplay itself but I also don't remember much of the game at all. I finished the campaign and I could not tell you what it was about or anything remotely interesting that happens during it. The energy is just gone."
88 51% Gears Tactics (2020) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"These games are usually above my brainpower, but the Gears franchise called me in and, honestly, it's a solid tactical shooter. Everything feels very Gears, so it's easy to be immersed in the world, and I had a good enough time that I played it all the way through."
67 12% My Friend Pedro (2019) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"Shoot the guys! Fun art style and occasionally made me laugh. Will never play again."
79 26% Destiny 2 (2017) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"I don't even know how to rate this. My last playthrough was with the Beyond Light expansion and I played it completely solo and I don't even know why I dropped so many hours into it. This remains a gear grind with an uninteresting MP mode, locked legacy content, bad writing that is uninvestable, and raids remain the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I'm sorry, but I miss when Bungie was less corporate and actually gave a shit."
86 44% Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling (2020) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"Bug Fables is almost there -- it is ALMOST a worthwhile Paper Mario clone. I think there's just the slightest lack of polish (which the indie makers can hardly be blamed for) and puzzle intuitiveness. A sequel with a little more funding could possibly nudge Nintendo into paying attention."
74 20% Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (2021) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"I don't have much to say about this one, good or bad. Maybe that's why I stopped playing it about a third of the way through."
86 44% Forza Horizon 5 (2021) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"This was my first Forza game and I had a blast -- spent way more time with it than anticipated. Not a big fan of the actual racing elements, and I'd be lying if I said I ever felt like I got "good" at this, but the exploration and arcade elements kept me playing."
85 40% Tainted Grail: Conquest (2021) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"If you're a Slay the Spire fan, this is worth your time. It's a little clunky, but if viewed as an interactive board game it's easier to get into. The difficulty factor may be even higher than Spire, but I found myself coming back for more."
94 73% Halo Infinite (2021) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"It's better than Halo 5, which, for the record, I think is a largely successful installment in this franchise. This campaign actually scratches that initial Halo: CE itch of overwhelming openness and exploration, but it feels half-finished. New gadgets are either welcome additions or are completely ignored. Multiplayer-wise, 343 still has no idea what they're doing. I fear Halo is kind of done after this, the game that was supposed to last ten years, barely made waves. Time to license out."
71 16% Tunic (2022) - Rated 22 Jun 2023
"The fascinating thing about gaming these days is experiencing the plethora of puzzle-solving platformers made by people who grew up on Zelda. That franchise has had immeasurable impact on the industry. We are still playing and talking about Zelda clones like Tunic. Unfortunately, Tunic's difficulty too often feels artificially inflated when battling enemies, and the mystery never really grabbed me."
