Campaign: Meh. I don't like much of it. The open world is lifeless and gets in the way of finding the high-octane action that linear Halo gives. It's there sometimes, but obscured by the open world. Banished are cool but deserve a better game. Polished gameplay, grappling hook is great. Online: I won't say I don't love it because I do. I know it has its problems content-wise but I've had a lot of fun with it off and on since release. Maps are good. Modes are good. Great Halo online, ultimately.

This is some of the best fps gameplay out there; the weapon variety, the AI, the maps, the movement mechanics. I just wish the campaign story had more of an impact. The open world bits are fun, the Weapon makes a charming companion and the presentation (animations, voice acting, music) is top notch but the plot is a confusing mess.

Gameplay is as polished as expected for a Halo game, and the open-world elements work great. Story and characters did nothing for me. Multiplayer is solid and has the Halo feel, but its never been the most fulfilling to me.

Aside from desync issues, and cheaters being more common than ever, it is a great game.

It's better than Halo 5, which, for the record, I think is a largely successful installment in this franchise. This campaign actually scratches that initial Halo: CE itch of overwhelming openness and exploration, but it feels half-finished. New gadgets are either welcome additions or are completely ignored. Multiplayer-wise, 343 still has no idea what they're doing. I fear Halo is kind of done after this, the game that was supposed to last ten years, barely made waves. Time to license out.
