Dragon Age: The Veilguard (2024) - Rated 08 Apr 2025
"This came free with my PS5 and I played like 15 minutes just to make sure."
Watch Dogs: Legion (2020) - Rated 08 Mar 2025
"I bought this basically to check out a London sim, after 20 or so hours I'd explored the city and come to realization that this was a soulless husk. Shame that this is the one Watch Dogs game I'm going to play."
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (2016) - Rated 08 Mar 2025
Assassin's Creed Odyssey (2018) - Rated 18 Jan 2025
"The first and last Assassin's Creed game I'm ever going to play (as playing this coincided with me finally getting fed up with Ubisoft's other big franchise Far Cry), I really enjoyed the ancient Greek setting & piloting a trireme + naval combat. They could have done more with the impact of the Peloponnesian War in the in-game world, as it doesn't seem to matter at all whether Sparta or Athens controls a province. Also it would have been great to have had more mythological/supernatural content."
Just Cause 3 (2015) - Rated 18 Jan 2025
"I totally get its deficiencies and it will be the last title in this franchise that I play, but in terms of mindless explosions and grappling hook paragliding when I have zero mental energy thanks to kids & work it fulfills a need."
Far Cry New Dawn (2019) - Rated 18 Jan 2025
"Gave up after 15 hours maybe, it's lazy as hell and improves on absolutely nothing from FC5. This along with FC6 ensures I'm not coming back to the franchise."
Fallout 4 (2015) - Rated 18 Jan 2025
"Played about 5 hours and realized it was going to be slop and I should just be happy with my memories of New Vegas. Also cured me of wanting to go back and play Fallout 3."
Ghost of Tsushima (2020) - Rated 16 Jul 2024
"Pretty impeccable aesthetically and in terms of combat, at least early on. The big negative is the enemy encampments/settlements all feel similar after a while (after all, Ghost of Tsushima is essentially an improved AC game), and I tended to get lazy in the end game & just did a firecracker + bomb + kunai for anyone left standing combo when it got challenging. Saying that, standoffs & killing people through screen doors never got old."
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (2023) - Rated 28 Sep 2023
"It solves my big gripes with BOTW - lack of an underworld (although the Depths are pretty boring once you've lit up all the roots) - and weapon durability through the fuse mechanic, which is extremely fun. Although definitely improving on BOTW, I would hesitate to say TOTK is a perfect game, because the temples & new environments (sky islands & Depths) are still a bit lacking. Needed a Shadow temple and some more enemies like those gloom hands (encountering those for the first time was amazing)."
