Probably the most perfect game ever made. Beautiful art, evocative music and sound design, phenomenal design theory, and a fantastic setting all flow together seamlessly to create something that is somehow still more than the sum of its parts. My only real criticism is the shortness of its final area, and that's the worst I can say the entire experience. Masterpiece.

Unlike the base game, in which I skipped every single useless cutscene, I did end up watching the flashback sequences due to a morbid curiosity for wtf the writers were thinking. Why does DOOM even need writers? Unfortunately, I did not feel sad and shed a gory tear for the generic lump of pecs with a beard as it accidentally bombed a small child holding a bunny rabbit teddy. Delighted to announce I did not watch a single FMV. The sheer amount of generic backstory is utterly at odds with the opening cutscene of the 2016 reboot. DOOM does not need any more exposition than "demon bad, shoot lots." I wonder how much these incredibly long videos cost to produce and much more gameplay we could have had instead. Or maybe even saved a few dev jobs. Plays fine though; had fun.
