Unlike the base game, in which I skipped every single useless cutscene, I did end up watching the flashback sequences due to a morbid curiosity for wtf the writers were thinking. Why does DOOM even need writers? Unfortunately, I did not feel sad and shed a gory tear for the generic lump of pecs with a beard as it accidentally bombed a small child holding a bunny rabbit teddy. I'm going to put this about on par with the base game though this goes in one direction I don't like much and one direction I love, so it kind of cancels each other out. I don't like the spear. It's a personal preference thing. Fortunately you can use the shield for most of it, but it always has some of the spear DNA in the design. But I love how personal the narrative is. Everything else is the Dark Ages I know and love. Impactful violence. Feels, looks, sounds awesome. - Full Review
