The game is loosely based on the 1985 film of the same name. In the single mode game, the player controls Marty McFly through various stages set in 1955 in which he collects various clock icons in order to advance to the next level, and avoid the gradual vanishing of his future. (Wikipedia)

The sort of game people have in mind when they advise low expectations when it comes to movie licenses.

If my calculations are correct, when this NES stops blinking... you're gonna see some serious shit.

Deserves every bit of criticism directed its way as one of the worst games ever. Entirely removed from how disappointing it is as a fan of the film, it's just so ugly in presentation, so devoid of any fun factor, so lame, so stupid and unambitious. Unplayable.

Not as bad as its made out to be, but gets very tedious with the repetitive skateboarding. About average for the NES.

Very low replayability, not much to do with the film save for sprinkling in some tid bits just to say there's relation. still there is an old arcade style challenge there if your morbidly curious

So, SO clunky. You can't enjoy it because of how frustrating the gameplay is- for all the things it should not be frustrating.

I love Back to the Future but good god this was a travesty. The main gameplay is this weird sidescroller thing where fucking everything is trying to kill you, but the controls are so slow and meander that maneuvering around it is unfun. The "mini-games" the game forces you into are even worse, at times incoherent. This deserves its reputation as one of the worst NES games ever.
