Civilization 2

Convincing my school library that this was an academic game was the highlight of my primary education.

I found both the strategy aspects and the sessions with the high council very enjoyable.

The addition of "state of the art" wonder-videos and a chatty council made this a great expansion.Also, I've played Civ2 so much that I noticed that the Knight units attack sound is lifted from the Black Knight in Holy Grail.

Wow I spent a lot of time playing this game in middle school And again for about a year in my twenties. The whole thing is a haze but I eventually got to the point that I knew too much about it. For example, start on a delta, make certain initial choices, and it becomes very easy. And I kept playing after it lost all challenge. I'm a little scared to even think about this game because it was a powerful addiction to me. On the same level as quitting smoking.

I enjoy the series immensely but this one never stood out.

I can't articulate why, but I never enjoyed this as much as the first Civilization. Even after Civilization III came, I always still ended playing the original far more often.
