Haters might hate but this game is peak Civ. Not the best game in the series, but for sure the most entertaining. The council, the palace, the animations, the civilopedia, everything about it was so good. And the gameplay wasn't too bad either, just horribly imbalanced.

The addition of "state of the art" wonder-videos and a chatty council made this a great expansion.Also, I've played Civ2 so much that I noticed that the Knight units attack sound is lifted from the Black Knight in Holy Grail.

I can't articulate why, but I never enjoyed this as much as the first Civilization. Even after Civilization III came, I always still ended playing the original far more often.
