It doesn't innovate or stand out in any way gameplay-wise, but it doesn't need to. Play this game to be immersed in the wizarding world as imagined in the HP series. With all the characters and story of HP himself set aside, you're free to explore the castle and surrounding grounds. Doing so is a joy. I'm not a big fan of collect-a-thon games but I've spent hours just wandering in this one.

This game accomplished what the books somehow couldn't: convince me that there's potential to tell a good story in the potterverse. Not by telling a good story, oh no, it's just lame, by the numbers, inconsequential nonsense. But the world, atmosphere and gameplay worked wonders, i liked the fighting/spell-system, broomflights on a somewhat diverse map, exploring caves etc... Now if someone were to take this solid foundation and fill it with engaging content you'd have a really great game!

It doesn't redefine the open world concept or RPGs in general, and at this point in time, usually that would be a problem for me because I'm harder on open worlds. This game made me a HP fan. Even as someone who had 0 experience beforehand, the setting is super charming. Combat is fun. Everything is fine.

The combat system is fun, but damn is this game shallow. The loot is so pointless, you don't earn anything of substance for challenges, you don't get to make any choices at all for your characters, dialogue doesn't matter one bit, most side quests are about five to ten minutes to complete, and the NPCs are boring and don't do anything. The castle is very well developed. I just wish they would have let Bethesda get some life into the NPCs and made the world itself more interesting.

What starts off in a very grand fashion slowly gets more mundane the further you progress. The spell casting is pretty fun at first but I found the more I went on the more of a slog it gets. The story is ok, nothing special. I found more of the side quests with the other students more engaging personally. The collectables are also pretty interesting too. Hoping for an expansion or a sequel to flesh this out as there is definitely untapped potential. Plat difficulty - 4/10

The world is lavish, its spells intoxicating, yet beneath the charm lies a bourgeois fantasy. The player is promised freedom, but only within the gilded cage of predetermined quests. Still, the mechanics—flying, dueling, discovering—produce real joy, even if the structure reaffirms hierarchy.

Played the main story & some side quests. As soon as the main story was over, I quit. The writing is bland, the characters are 'eh' at best, and there isn't any really change that comes from completing the main story - the goblins aren't seen differently, you are effectively still a 'chosen one', and there are no real consequences to using the Forbidden spells. Only reason I don't give a 0 is because the game technically functions. Should have just watched someone play it instead.

Absolutely beautiful world building, grandiose attention to detail I have rarely seen to this extent. But all the rest is solid at best, gameplay is too simple and boring, gets repetitive extremely quickly. The world map is cluttered with icons whose quests feel like pointless work. The story is very weak, the same goes for side quests that couldn't be duller. The combat system is okay, but could have more impact, there is a little lack of pressure behind the skills.
