Had two great games back to back then we get this really good one but the mega buster sucks. It sucks so much.

The one that added the Charge Shot (though I don't know that I feel much need to use it in this one). Quite similar to 3 overall. Maybe not one of my favorite soundtracks, and some of these boss patterns aren't the hottest (the final one is just plain dumb), but it's still a Mega Man game. I'm sure everyone was totally convinced and looking forward to fighting Dr. Cossack going forward instead of that Wily fellow.

The graphics were great, the character designs were all really cool, and the mega buster was half-a cool idea. The levels were kind of annoying, the boss fights boiled down to guessing the correct subweapon more often than the last two, and the mega buster, again, was only half-a cool idea...the damage increase didn't justify the charge time because the shot was only as accurate as a regular shot.

I think I'll give up with Mega Man on NES here, none were even close to Mega Man 2. Too many enemies coming from impossible angles from above, multiple enemies coming at you at once, enemies appearing where you would land from a jump unless you'd played that level before. Some enemies were bullet sponges and each enemy took off way too much health. Your blaster did fuck all damage to bosses too. Mega Man X was good though so I'll pick up the series again after that title.

The level design in the game is a lot more obnoxious compared to past titles considering there are more instant death pitfalls and cheap shit that pops out of nowhere, but they're not overly detrimental to the game. There's also the fact they go a bit overboard with the mini-bosses on the stages in this game but thankfully these bosses are still pretty fun to fight. On the other hand, I found the bosses easier to cheese in this game which is why I rate it a bit lower than 2 & 3.

Starts to lose a bit of something, perhaps because it starts to feel a little repetitive when it comes to its older titles. Did start to feature the charge shot.

It may not be quite Mega Man 2 & 3 but I'm hardly throwing it under the bus. Capcom could crank these fun, charming, fast-paced platformers with great music and graphics out in their sleep.
