You mean I get to eat all the rats I want and no one gets mad?! I love all the moments of this game that dont involve bullet sponge mutant things.

Played the Redux version. Decently atmospheric shooter with a few interesting ideas I would've liked to have seen expanded upon more.

I'm a sucker for the apocalypse and this is certainly an interesting one. The story and character work are good for the most part and the world building is top notch, but come on man, let Artyom speak. I'm so sick of this silent protagonist schtick. The game jumps through so many hoops to make excuses for his silence, just let him talk, he already does on loading screens

I played Redux with the mode that ammo isn't as sparse because I don't love being underpowered. So with that said, it was still fun to scavenge for ammo... though I wish there were some other stuff to look for plus a crafting element. The only parts I didn't like were near the end. Aside from that, I loved the game. It's eerie but not scary, gunplay feels nice, great story and world building. Excellent music. Liked the gas mask and simple things like wiping it off... added to the realism.

The immersive atmosphere makes up for it's lack of engaging gameplay, but not enough.

Loved the atmosphere, the minimalist HUD, the stripped-down, realistic game mechanics (no map, objectives are written down on an actual note, turning off lamps, etc.). Sadly, the gameplay itself is very repetitive and the story is simply about going someplace, shooting mutants, then going to a different place.
