Nier Replicant ver.1.22... does everything a good remake should: improved textures, better gameplay, and stable framerates (fans of the original know). However, the roots of it's small budget made by a tiny failing developer headed by a largely unproven Yoko Taro show in every aspect of the game. If you are a fan of polished AAA products, this still isn't for you. For the rest of us, this remake is a great way to play a wonderful experiment in stretching what is possible in video gaming.

It's all about the story and characters here, which are great. The combat is OK but nothing special, and the constant backtracking gets old. It definitely feels "small" compared to the ultra-slick AAA games out there, but that contributes to the intimate feeling of the game's world. The story has some great twists, and the soundtrack is amazing. Great stuff overall.

It's an updated version of a game that I already thought was a 10. What flaws exist ultimately don't matter to me because the stuff that works is so insanely endearing that it's easy to forgive the not so great stuff. With that said, the main criticisms of the original (combat, for one) never mattered to me because I thought it was fine. Even the fetch quests in the first few hours were okay because it fit with the story in my eyes. Love the story, genre mixing. Also, GOAT soundtrack.

While I prefer Automata this still has amazing characters and a ton of that good good Yoko Taro shit I love so much

It's a much better version in almost every conceivable way, but the fact that its low-budget roots still persevere makes the contrast with it's new AAA polish even more jarring. And it's also disappointing that hardcore Taro fans won't find much new, since most of the new plot is based on pre-existing stories. But I have to admit it's really nice to see these stories finally being realised in what is aguarbly the best plot twist since... well, Automata.

One of the most repetitive games I've ever played, which apart from an acceptable story has absolutely no substance, the approx. 20 hours more (if rushed!!) for all further endings after ending A are absolutely not justified, with so little variety and tiny differences that are offered. Unfortunately, the game is also much too easy, the normal level of difficulty is more like super easy :/ But a very solid and flawless remake, had no technical problems whatsoever. Definitely not for everyone!
