Resident Evil Requiem

So much fun. Was going around all slow and scared as Grace, but felt the fun and action through Leon's stuff. I love getting to see Leon deal with his issues that stem from his worst first day ever, and also how despite him being pretty over all this hassle, he is still kind and gentle when trying to deal with someone in need. Little disappointed we had 0 mention of Claire in a place her memory should have been very alive in, but Veronica is coming so holding out hope.

Full review for some context, but basically, this is arguably my favourite Resident Evil. This or 4 Remake. Anyway, Grace is a great character with great voice acting. Leon was already a great character, so no surprise. Them switching from fear-inducing Grace to tension-alleviating Leon is a good call. I enjoy the second half more but that's personal preference. I like you Grace. But in a world where half of the USA is populated of mutants monsters and zombie hordes, why do you join the FBI if you afraid of doves ?

the literal change of perspective makes for some pacing issues that might ruin it for fans of only one of the two included game mechanics. i like 'em both, though i slightly prefer the slow, atmospheric horror to the hilariously over the top action segments. the return to RPD was bittersweet, if a bit short. altogether a great 30th anniversary package for us old fart RE fanboys.

Juggles between two different types of gameplay. Grace's sections involve RE7-like Survival Horror with limited ammo and supplies to get around and navigate rooms solving puzzles and finding items to progress. Leon's gameplay is more Action RE2-RE4-like and my favourite aspect gunning done zombies and monsters in a very satisfying way. The locations look fantastic, and the game is just the right difficulty and changes things up enough to not get too tedious.
