Saints Row IV

Awesome game,pure fun.

It's a big heap of content to shove through but none of it really captures the anarchic joy that's supposed to define the series.

Saints Row IV is insanity. Fun insanity, but still insanity. It is a game coasting on excess and being over powered. If nothing else, this makes the game totally unique and a blast to play in small doses. Even though it's not the hardest game in the world.

Essentially, someone looked at Saints Row 3, turned the stupidity up to 11, and said 'hey lets just give the characters super powers lol'. And it works. It works well. Ditching any pretence of reality, Volition aimed to make a GTA clone fun, and they did. Especially if you play the whole game co-op. If you've ever wandered around in GTA and thought 'I wonder what it'd be like to just jump over half the map', then this is the game for you.

My favourite of the series. Everything that was juvenile and irritating in SR3 is satirical and actively funny here, and the superpowers are a goddamn blast.

It's got plenty of problems but the powers really were enjoyable to use, and again, co-op elevated it.

It's kind of odd to see an entire game made around some meme DLC of the last game, but I'd say this one is fairly better than SR3 even if it pretty much makes SR into a different game entirely. There are actually points in the game that felt challenging, the atmosphere was cooler and the superpowers you get made for a unique gameplay experience even though you rarely need to use most of your powers. The plot is pretty lame, but it had some good fanservice and the main villain is pretty fun.

It's fun for a while but unlike the third this one gets boring fairly quickly.
