Sleeping Dogs is an action-adventure video game. Set in contemporary Hong Kong, the story follows Wei Shen, an undercover police officer infiltrating the Sun On Yee Triad organization. Gameplay focuses on fighting, shooting and parkour. If you aren't a fan of GTA-style games, this won't change your mind. It initially impresses, throwing you into a beautiful and vibrant Hong Kong, but as the game progresses it cuts back on the Cantonese, and the superficial veneer of Hong Kong starts to peel away.

Less robust GTA type game with better fighting mechanics and better story but not as elaborate… B+

A breath of fresh air in the open world gta-like games.

People slept on this and they shouldn't have. Sure it was another open-world game but it took that Arkham fighting system and implemented here, making you feel like you were in a martial arts movie. I really want a sequel because there are things that could have been improved.

A very underrated sequel to True Crime (this was going to be be True Crime Hong Kong til the developer swapped), has you living out The Departed with Triads. An engaging story, a strangely-well fleshed out martial arts system for a GTA-style game, and you randomly date Emma Stone for a bit.

Open-world action-adventure games are boring. This one also handles poorly (on a PC with a mouse and keyboard). Normally I'd give it more bonus points for not being set in generAmerica but Sleeping Dogs doesn't do much differently with its Hong Kong setting.

This game had potential, and the introduction was promising, but it just didn't cut it. I like how it presents a much darker and grittier version of the world it paints than the Yakuza games it is clearly inspired by. It's fun to drive around cause the cars handle great, possibly best driving in a sandbox city ever, but the story is too disjointed to enjoy and the merciless killing gives way to ludo-narrative dissonance. How can you kill so much and not get PTSD? The shooting is also AWFUL.

One of the best "Grand Theft Auto"-likes, Sleeping Dogs delivered a compelling story with interesting characters, as well as solid, fun gameplay. The campaign dragged a tad in the latter half, but overall a great title. Karate moves add a solid +3
