Sonic Heroes is fast and fun. The three character at once structure of the levels is unique. The opening song is catchy. Overall though the game is a hollow experience. Memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Sonic Heroes is a severely flawed yet very fun game. The team mechanics are unique compared to other games in the series and all three play styles are fun to use. I very much enjoy this game, but a lot of problems hold it back. First of all, you have to play through the game 4 times to complete the story, which is just unnecessary padding. Also, the game is very glitchy at points, with grinding on rails in particular being a crapshoot. But regardless, I love Sonic Heroes.

I actually played this one to completion back in the day (and I mean true completion, with all four teams and everything). It starts out pretty fun - I'm sure I could still pull it out and replay the first level happily - but definitely loses momentum and becomes a bit tiring by the end, and like all 3D Sonics has kind of a softly-programmed glitchiness to it.

It starts out well enough, but goddamn does this game pad itself out really hard. All of these extra teams feel pointless and I hated having to spend unnecessary amounts of time to do some really arbitrary tasks. I was never fond of 3D Sonic, but this game is where the series started to get increasingly aggravating with its padding and dumb game design. The fact this is one of the better 3D Sonic games should tell you how low the bar has been set for the series.

a marginal improvement on the Sonic Adventure games, though the replayability emphasizes just how lacking a lot of the features are. one of my goals as an adult is to fuck to the theme song
