I'm not self-motivated enough anymore to play these games with vague mushy goals, give me concrete missions to do, game! I'd like to send this game back in time to ten-year-old me, he'd probably have dug it.

A Mincecraft-esque game which is about as good as Minecraft itself, except its 2D, so you may as well play the 3D Minecraft instead. It's also harder to find building materials here.

I've only ever watched Minecraft being played but I still like this more. I think the 2D nature of it just appeals to me. Minecraft is probably a better game in most ways, especially when you play all the crazy stuff people have made, but I would still choose this.

Oh dear God, the hours I lost in this game. And I don't really say that in a negative sense, they were hours well-spent, but I didn't even scratch the surface of what you can do and explore in this game, and I'll be honest, that kind of turned me off. There's a lot to love here and IMO it's a superior version of Minecraft, but maybe this style of game just isn't for me. Still, it's addicting as all Hell to build and mine and build and mine and build and mine and build and mine and build...

I'd say this is better than Minecraft, but I've never played Minecraft. Ah, fuck it -- it's better than Minecraft.

Terraria is more immediately enjoyable than Minecraft, but comparatively, it also has far less complexity and variety in terms of what can be done with its creation options. When you start investing into the game, Terraria's grind becomes a lot more nauseating and the combat doesn't really have that much depth to make the grind particularly enjoyable. Even then, I still think Terraria has merit in terms of its creative potential and navigation and building is pretty fun in of itself.
