Urban Champion

Urban Champion

1984
Fighting
The purpose of the game is to knock the other player into a sewer manhole. There is a 99 second time limit, and the player has a set limit of stamina (200), both of which are represented by numbers. The player has two types of attacks: a light punch and a heavy punch. The light punch does not push your opponent as far as the heavy punch, but it is harder to block. The heavy punch sends your opponent reeling backwards, but can be blocked easily and takes a bit longer to pull off. (wikipedia)

I know we have to cut early video games some slack, but this is awful.

Even as a kid who hadn't played many games I could tell this was a big pile of shit!

I'm giving it 20 points, despite the shit gameplay, because the premise amuses me. I mean, dude just walks to a building, beats up whoever is there, and moves onto another building and just beats up that dude.

Weirdly iconic in Nintendo's library despite being really trashy. The gameplay has absolutely no variety to it and is based on how long you can tolerate its redundancy. Outside of that, the combat is the most barebones shit imaginable even by NES standards. This is a classic I'd like to forget.
