Full disclosure, I rented this one time because I had played Super Mario World and I thought Yoshi was awesome. Did not realize as a young child that it was going to be a simple little puzzle game

At the beginning, there's a nice ramp-up of strategic depth, as different types of cookies are introduced and the playing field expands. But there's eventually a point where it plateaus, and the only challenge is keeping up as the cookies come faster and the grid gets bigger. There's also a number of good puzzles in Puzzle Mode, mind you. It's cute and fun, worth a chunk of your time; just be willing to move on when it's time.

Ever since Tetris, the push was on to make cute, fun platformers, but the more they made, the worse they got. I don't find Yoshi's Cookie anything but a snooze.

The Game Boy version admirably passed the time. I remember the music being pleasant - the kind of game you play to wind down instead of wind up.

The Game Boy version of this was a really solid simple puzzle game to play on the bus, slower paced and less mentally taxing than Tetris.

Simple puzzle game that at the time ruined a weekend rental but now it's fine for refined adult puzzlin' tastes.
