Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game

I'm kind of baffled that a game that's "what if Magic the Gathering were created by people who did not actually have any idea how Magic the Gathering worked" has managed to last this long. Respect, I guess?

It started out all right, but it had problem cards. Every generation it added, the problem cards would explode, cut to now where nobody knows what half the stuff does and the way to win is to make painful bleeder decks.

For the first few years of this game it was actually pretty decent as far as card games go. As it got more complicated it got needlessly complicated to an almost comical degree. It is not uncommon now for a card to have an effect which requires an entire paragraph to explain.

For all of the memes associated with it, the card game is actually pretty engaging. The game is fast paced and there's a lot of crazy strategies that can change momentum on a dime, not to mention there's a crazy amount of cards in the meta that play with the action economy in interesting ways. On the other hand, the game is an incredible knowledge burden - it's possible your opponent can play a deck you have no clue how it functions, not to mention how drastically the meta shifts over the years.
