Frictional Games' psychological horror classic rewrote the genre's rules, but time hasn't been kind to its actual gameplay. 70/100 – revolutionary, yet frustratingly shallow

I like the interaction, mechanics of the game, puzzles, and story in this game. But the monster is meh.

Those monsters are the goofiest looking mother fuckers. A miscalculation on what is "scary"

The moments of genuine scares are plentiful but they are in service of a been-there, done-that story, one-dimensional characters, and uninteresting visuals. I'll never understand how no one has been able to recapture the Silent Hill experience. Maybe Team Silent was just that special.

you'd really have to hate this, because it "gave" us pewdiepie. but this game had moments of me reeling in terror, so yeah, it works.

Some horror just doesn't work for me but I get why it would for other people. This game, on the other hand, I can't even comprehend why people find it scary. Clearly I'm in the minority, but it does nothing at all for me. I'm convinced that the sanity mechanic only exists as a means of getting the player to not look at the monster's goofy model.
