Probably a perfect sim for me. It's not crowded with micromanagement options, but is rather streamlined. Almost everything you do is done with one goal in mind: pay off your mortgage. And that sounds boring as fuck, especially when the way you do that is by selling things like fish and fruit and bugs you've collected, but it's remarkably addicting. Expanding and organizing your house was also somehow fun. One of my favorites from the Gamecube.

Very charming, but the gameplay can't hold my attention at all.

Future games have benefited from technological advancements but god damn this game was great. I never got to play it was much as I wanted because I could only rent it but I remember being so amazed by the real-time aspects. And I imagine the game would still have the same charm it did back then. Fundamentally this offers the same type of experience as future titles and it's the OG so it deserves props.

The flagship game. Such a fun concept, meeting and trying to keep animals as friends in your village, but it doesn't go anywhere. You play until you burn out.

This is the only Animal Crossing I've ever played. Rented it way back when it first came out, played it for one weekend, neither loved nor hated it, and was like "hm, that was interesting." Now apparently this is some huge franchise much to my surprise!

It takes time until you start to love it but eventually you start to lose interest in the game. It is a good game for casual gamers though. I mean you can save anytime you want so it does not matter if you play five or thirty minutes.
