Condemned: Criminal Origins

What I like about this is that it starts of gritty and kind of scary because you're fighting insane people in dark areas, so you always have to be careful, but then it slowly descends into the psychological horror and imagery that F.E.A.R. had, though not as far obviously. Story was always interesting. Gameplay is brutal. Atmosphere's on point. Voice acting is a little wonky but it's forgivable. Doesn't overstay its welcome. Save system is frustrating dog shit though. - Full Review

A visceral horror-FPS hybrid where every pipe-wrench swing feels lethal. The mannequin scare, the ”I’ll fucking kill you!” meth-heads, and that final twist? Flawless

The disparity between the quality of the storytelling (awful) and the quality of the horror (excellent) is massive, but the game luckily manages to not get in its own way too much and instead allows the creepy environments and enemies and tense combat to take center stage, with the narrative little more than a cheesy framing device to shuttle you from one dark, derelict location to the next.
