Action
Gunstar Heroes is a run-and-gun side-scrolling shooter much in the vein of Contra. The playable characters, Red and Blue, represent different control schemes: Red being free shot, which allows the player to move freely while shooting; and Blue being Fixed Shot, which makes the player stay fixed in one spot while firing. An enjoyably frantic affair, though I was not compelled to go back again and again like with classic Mega Man games.

This is a fun game, only that it's too hard for anyone to enjoy this. With Limited Lives and unlimited continues. You die and you have to start the whole level again. This is annoying especially if you die at bosses. You really have to play 2 player coop in this to defeat bosses with high vitality. You and your partner both have separate vitality that you each have like 100 each making your total doubled to 200. That's a huge deal in this game.

Good at parts, but it can be hard to tell when you're able to hit an enemy, the shooting and jumping is also slow and the boss difficulty is ridiculous. Coupled with having to go all the way back to the start of the level when you die. Certainly no mega man.

One of the best side scrolling shooters of its era, even if it's easily broken by the double green gun.

an underrated classic of the 16-bit era, with the Seven Force in particular being one of the best boss fights in gaming.
