I am not a fan of horror, but I love every bit of this game. It’s more of ambient horror than actual horror but my god if it isn’t tender and gorgeous. I loved the sad and ornate surroundings and how everything unfolds at your own pace as you walk along the halls and can nearly run your fingers along the yellowed antique wallpapers that whisper sorrowful things as you walk past. I bought this game twice. I would buy it a third time to get a physical copy!

I only gave this a 1 so I could give its sequel a lower score.

You learn its tricks pretty quickly because you're not in any real danger for the most part, so it does get a little tedious. It's also quite short. You spend your time walking, reading things and solving simple puzzles. With that said, I did enjoy my time with it because the sound was good, there were some scary parts despite the issues, and the story was decent enough to get invested in.

I probably have a frightening degree of entamaphobia so yeah give me things in doorways that shouldn’t be and I’m shitting my pants. The sound design is equally excellent - play with headphones after dark.
