By the time you finish reading this I'd have beaten the game again. Pathetic length (lol).

Looks incredible. A pretty short experience that feels like it trades atmosphere for pressure at times, and therefore was less enjoyable than the previous title.

My playtime lasted only 5h10m, and the game still felt like it overstayed its welcome. Most of the games in this series devolve into dumb-brain action schlock near the end, but RE3 is nothing but that schlock from beginning to end. Nemesis is a disappointment. He pretty much exclusively shows up in scripted chase sequences or in big boss fights that are incredibly easy but soooooo tedious. The game looks and sounds incredible, but the content and especially the tone are a total miss.

Great game for people who love to spend forever fumbling around a million dark corners looking for whatever dumbass little widget they need to advance. Playing something like this just makes me want to spend the rest of my life playing old ass 2D platformers where the entire goal and objective is “go forward.”

not the biggest fan of the original, i just don't like the pressure of countdowns and invincible enemies hunting me while basically playing an exploration game. the remake handles this somewhat more accessible by dropping exploration altogether. it just pushes you forward for the short time being. it's maybe more of an addon, an extended version of those substories you unlock after RE2. don't spend your kids' college fund, wait for it to go on sale for 10$ is what i'm trying to say here.

I could make the argument that Resident Evil 3 is considerably more pleasant to play than 2. It's less scary and a little more action packed, which means I hesitate a lot less when navigating through the game's levels. But the Mr. X equivalent, Nemesis, takes the entire experience down a notch. Encounters are less dynamic and more scripted, and his stun locks and grabs frustrate a lot. Boss encounters also just do not work with this rigid control scheme. They are not fun or well designed at all.
