Snakes-and-Ladders-1943

Snakes and Ladders

1943
Board Game, Family
Climb up and slide down in the exciting game of ups and downs, Chutes and Ladders! You and the character on your pawn can see the square marked 100, but it's not so easy to get there. If you land on a good deed, you can shimmy up a ladder, but land on the wrong spot and you'll shoot down a chute! Spin the spinner to see how many spots you'll move. Will your new spot send you down or move you up, up, up? Slip, slide and see if you can win at Chutes and Ladders! (Google)

One time while visiting England, I was in a hobby shop and made the mistake of asking if they had Snakes and Ladders. The clerk immediately started shouting at me "CHUTES! CHUTES! IT'S FUCKING CHUTES AND LADDERS! IT'S NOT ENOUGH THAT YOU BASTARDIZED OUR LANGUAGE, NOW YOU'RE COMING FOR EVERYTHING ELSE WE HOLD DEAR! Then he threw a plate of black pudding at me, called me a cheeky monkey and sat down for a spot of tea. Ok, none of this ever happened, but I like to think that's how it would go down.

How do you even rate Snakes and Ladders? I gave it 58 for some reason.

Humorous as a drinking game, but boring otherwise.

I'm not even sure if this is something I can meaningfully rate. I guess I'm giving it a low score based on two things; first, the fact that it's given to kids in place of an actual fun game (tho I'd still rather this than Monopoly) and second, the vague and concerning religiosity that often comes with it.
