While I liked the location, I didn't feel like the story was all that interesting. The fairy tale bit towards the end was amusing though. I don't feel like either of the DLCs were really that important to play.

The new map is large and filled to the brim with content. The story is fine enough and has some very good characters. It doesn't reach the same heights as Hearts of Stone but this is still well worth playing.

Gameplay is slightly improved compared to the base game, but the main story is a disappointment. By now we've really had enough Witcher for a while.

has probably the most well-written scene in witcher 3 - the one with geralt, regis, dettlaff, orianna and anna. beautiful display of information asymmetry. and then, bang, the world is on fire. you think they're trying to build up some moral complexity with the vampire thing, but no, it turns out they're all totally batshit or totally evil, except geralt's good old pal, the one who has to shoulder the shame of his "race". moral grayness in these sorts of things is an absolute sham, a facade.

It isn't quite as good as the original game or the DLC before it, but it is an incredible ending to one of the best RPGs ever.
