Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos

Perhaps the greatest total package of any RTS, Warcraft III essentially ended the genre by being so towering.

Wonderful game, the map editor is what made it truly special as whole genres of video games emerged out of it. Still proud that I made it on the top 500 EU in both 1v1 and 2v2, great times tryharding and loving it!

Warcraft III is a towering success in the world of RTS. Blizzard formed a beautiful game with a terrific sense of humor and addictive game play. For those who enjoy the World but not the online 'sensation' Warcraft III is the last great move for the franchise.

The actual game itself didn't really do as much for me as it did for some of my friends. We would hit it up at lans from time to time along with Frozen Throne, but what really did do it for me was all the creator content. Tower defence, DoTA, survival, mazes etc. etc. Holy shit the creator content was brilliant. However I'm not sure how to fit that into the score, but since it was using the WC3 and FT engine I've adjusted the score to reflect it all the same.

Not as much fun as Warcraft II. The multiplayer was great, but I guess that turned into... LoL, or what?

I love RTS and this is another fun entry into the Warcraft series. I remember this one specifically because it had new races.

This for me is where Blizzard dropped the ball. Everything became more ponderous, less fun, and with shinier graphics. Even back in 2002 I remember thinking the intro cutscene was masturbatory with the bird's feathers being so emphasized (I vaguely recall similar things being said about the CG hair in the Final Fantasy movie). Then within a couple of years completely overshadowed by WoW.

[PC] This was my entry to the Warcraft series and it is a solid strategy game that holds loads of childhood memories for me. This is were Dota started. This is were WoW started. And that legacy isn't spawned from a just a mediocre game. The story was good, but the versatility was made this game; from multiplayer LAN maps to custom scenarios that changed the way the game was played.

Huge fan of Warcraft I and II but starting from this I've stopped playing this franchise.
