After a couple months of endlessly playing Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64, this was the game to pick up in fall of 1996. The water effects looked awesome at the time and it's still a fun, simple, straight-to-basics racing experience, not too easy or too tough. Manages a nice tonal mix with its courses, ranging from sunny islands to bays and harbors to industrial areas, misty lakes, a glacier and a nighttime city. Great N64 racing action!

A simplistic but well-designed title for the N64. The game boasts some basic but enjoyable level design, with a number of fun challenges to play through. The feel of the game is fantastic - everything is responsive, weighty, and satisfying to pull off. Ultimately what the game offers is limited and it won't blow you away but what's there is both charming and fun.

It's a good game, but there's not a lot to it. You can play through the normal championship in twenty minutes. The guy's running commentary was probably pretty impressive back in the day, but annoying now.
