Nothing like teaching a 5year old snippets of the German language than through Nazi death rattles.

Who doesn't want to shoot Hitler? Even Hitler wanted to shoot Hitler toward the end there

You can't deny the position it holds, and getting 3D to run as fast as this did on some of the hardware it had it to was pretty impressive. I don't know that you ever have much reason to care which samey arbitrary maze you're stumbling around at any given moment, but it's still easy enough to go in there and shoot everything that moves, for a little bit at least. It's also amusing to remember some of the control schemes people would use back in the day. Nice music, too.

The proto-Doom, and almost as fun.

Had fun playing it back in the day, but the level design wasn't very good. The atmosphere was very provocative, but in a good way I feel.

The grandaddy of all FPS's (unless you count Catacomb, but there was less shooting in that and more fireballs), a retro game that's not for the weak hearted. Not because it's gory, but because of the limitations of it being an MSDOS 1992 program. Judging this by today's standards is insane, but if you're feeling nostalgic for the beginnings of ID Software's tour-de-fps, its a great trip back in time.

The enemy and level design isn't as cool or memorable as Doom, but it has similar pacing and stands well on its own.

This wasn't my genre, but within the 1st person shooter world, I had more fun with this than with any other of its ilk in that decade.

A classic that I sunk a lot of time into on many platforms.

Having played this through Doom II's secret levels was fun and then playing the actual game was better as a standalone. Not recommended on the SNES
