ARMS can be fun; it's inventive, intriguing, and each character has ups and downs, which is how a fighting game should be. However, using its recommended motion-controlled method of playing can be hit or miss and often frustrating. A single jab can be misinterpreted as a double-jab, resulting in an unwanted grab, etc. The lack of a single-player campaign to flesh out the world and characters makes ARMS a title for those passionate about competitive online play; not much here for the rest of us.

Super Mario Odyssey (2017) - Rated 05 Feb 2018

Super Mario Odyssey is an awesome return for 3D Mario. Gorgeous graphics, amazing level design, and too much in-game content to keep track of. While playing through the game's story is fairly quick and easy experience, there is plenty of post-game content to keep the fun going and many tough-as-nails challenges to complete. Hunting down moons, while there are many, is rewarding and rarely feels like a chore.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (2002) - Rated 05 Feb 2018

ES3 is buggy and the mechanics are very dated compared to its successors, but there is something about Morrowind and its shear number of weapon classes, spells, text-based dialogue, and exploring the beautifully creative world itself that makes it a more immersive and rewarding experience than Oblivion and Skyrim.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) - Rated 05 Feb 2018

GTA:VC was an improvement on the ground-breaking GTA3 when it came to the aesthetics and the sprawling layout of Vice City. The story is unoriginal and the side-content fails to deliver anything close to what GTA:San Andreas came to accomplish later, but Vice City is worth playing at least once.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998) - Rated 05 Feb 2018

OoT set the bar for 3D action-adventure games. While the world of Hyrule is not as loaded with life and detail as future Zelda titles, Ocarina of Time is an unforgettable adventure that invented the near-perfect adventure RPG format that Zelda games would follow for years to come and many adventure games would attempt to emulate.

Hotline Miami (2012) - Rated 05 Feb 2018

A very challenging and bloody top-down shooter. Great music and aesthetic af visuals make this worth playing through at least once.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011) - Rated 05 Feb 2018

ES5 Skyrim is an improvement on its predecessor, Oblivion, when it comes to world-building, combat mechanics, alchemy, leveling, and overall immersion. The NPC's are less stiff, the voice-acting far better, and the side-quests more interesting and bountiful. Skyrim is as close to ES3: Morrowind in overall quality as a modern ES is probably going to get.

Tetris (1985) - Rated 05 Feb 2018

THE puzzle video game. I've sunk many hours into trying to improve my score on the NES version of Tetris.
