This is perfection for me. After hundreds, if not thousands of hours spent I can say I will take memories of Morrowind to my grave. Some things are a bit awkward but man it is so immersive, huge (was back in te day) and atmosphere along with the music is simply stunning. I would pay a lot of a remake.

A standard for open gaming and storytelling fantasy. Its incredibly dated graphically but the premise still stands solid.

Morrowind is such an awkward game to play by modern standards. A lot of mechanics give the impression of "FUCKING WHY?" such as miss rates and the slow ass movement speed. The NPC's also have really unnatural dialog, as asking a basic question makes them talk like an excerpt from a novel. But why do I rate this so highly? Because the game captures the feeling of TES' lore perfectly and has a great sense of progression few RPG's have. Modding has also made this game better.

You can fly around a world full of mushrooms, dinosaur looking things, demons, and get called an n'wah, what's there not to like?

tried to play it recently and way too outdated. pretty sure i'm glad i never played it even back then though. the exp and leveling up traits is too weird, the quest system was weird and unclear right?, and fast travel was done with that weird spell so you had to remember where you last left a point lol. the story was cool. i died when those random sleeper agents started coming up to me. but then they go back to normal :P. loved seeing lore things i never knew like the fast travel monster

With a few mods to make it more like Oblivion or Skyrim it could be a good game but things like the lack of an arrow pointer really ruin it. You can see the underlying Bethesda greatness, just a few things ruin it.

the single most hideous game i've ever seen and the single worst set of npcs i've ever had to interact with. utterly unplayable, and maybe the worst of the big elder scrolls games, contrary to popular opinion. a damn shame too, because the underlying concepts are clearly superior to the two sequels, what with actually meaningful factional conflict and some rather inspired art design - presumably everything wasn't so shit-colored in the original designs.

I want to be giving this 100. Every time anyone describes Morrowind they make it sound like the most wonderful RPG that I would love. Trying to play it has always been awkward beyond belief, though. I hope one day I can get past that barrier to entry and see the beauty everyone else sees.

The flawed gameplay mechanics that were an awkward product of the transition between dicerolls and more immersive fps combat can easily be overlooked when nestled in such fantastic narrative and worldbuilding. The lore and philosophical influence behind it all is an absolute bottomless pit to lose yourself in, even if you're somehow done with the enormous amount of great game content. Also I make the sounds for the Tamriel Rebuilt mod so go play that.

ES3 is buggy and the mechanics are very dated compared to its successors, but there is something about Morrowind and its shear number of weapon classes, spells, text-based dialogue, and exploring the beautifully creative world itself that makes it a more immersive and rewarding experience than Oblivion and Skyrim.

Wealth beyond measure, outlander. Clunky as shit but so, SO in-depth with a fascinating, alien world to explore for hours and hours. Kirkbride is a fucking hack fraud who I despise on a fundemental level, but at very least Dagoth Ur is probably the best villain in all of TES.

The writing is unparalleled for a game of this scope but that same scope severely limits the game as well. Gameplay is a chore and there are a lot of boring quests and factions. I still admire it for being the game which changed western RPG's, arguably for the worse.

The only Bethesda game I really like, chiefly because of the wonderfully unique setting and the great atmosphere that accompanies it. The gameplay has a lot of flaws, but running around Vvardenfell and doing strange things for strange people just feels good. I'm also among the few people who genuinely like the keyword-based dialogue system.

Morrowind is a masterful game. Or at least it could have been. The world is magnificent, to a quality none of the following games would achieve in creativity. The only thing bringing this third installment down is the combat mechanics. Or lack thereof.
