A solid sidegrade to the previous entry. While I wasn't too enamoured with the new resource-replenishment system to begin with, it grew on me and it definitely made combat a bit more tactical once I was fully kitted out. Combat is as intense and manic as you'd expect. Increased emphasis on platforming sections didn't do much for me, but at least they were fairly easy and could provide a bit of respite between encounters. Good soundtrack, obviously. Nonsense (back)story added little.

This game makes DOOM(2016) look like child's play. Only after you've played Eternal do you realize how easy was DOOM(2016). This is fast and intense gameplay so if you enjoy games like Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 then this is the game for you. But if you enjoy Doom 1,2&3 or even DOOM(2016) then be careful cause this is a different beast.

graphics doesn't seem as polish but animations are real upgrade and also de flesh damage. But arcadey/playground design lowers immersion, special enemies that requires dumb mechanics/weak spots (I'm talking about you marauder), and lack of ammo all the time (ammo upgrade is so useless and shared ammo...) is a big no no.

Resembles Quake III Arean. Very arcadey.

The combat is as great as ever but in a lot of other way it's like they took everything people liked about the 2016 game and completely ran it into the ground. That one was just tongue-in-cheek enough to be effective whereas this one goes full camp and it's definitely worse off for it.

an upgrade on the first* game in most ways, and a slight downgrade in fewer. rip and tear, baby.

I wasn't necessarily in the mood for this when I played it, so that should be taken into consideration. I'm not a big "boomer shooter" fan, but I do enjoy this. I think I just don't like it as much as 2016 because of way they changed the gameplay. I much prefer 2016 to the weapon swapping focused mechanics here. Not a huge fan of the platforming. Amazing game if what they were going for appeals to you, but I'd rather play 2016.

2016 DOOM was better. There's no need for a story in DOOM. Just none. There's some good stuff in that game though, it's fun to play.

The gameplay isn't quite as as refined as in Doom (2016), and the story is far, far worse, but what they've added (a flamethrower that gives you armor, a grappling hook, ice bombs, unlimited chainsawing for ammo, etc.) keeps things interesting. The fucking axe demon is one of the poorest design choices I can remember in a game that's otherwise good.

Too many jumping parts but just enough ripping and tearing. Really miss the over the top demon audio logs instead we get lore dump text files.
