Ghost of Tsushima

Visuals are outstanding, combat is fun, level progression is decent. Story is okay. I do enjoy this but my open world fatigue continues and I don't think this brings anything new to the formula. Cinematic nature gets tiring due to open world design repetition. Accentuate the cool shit by not drowning it in that, because it's pleasing the first few times you see something, then I wanted to skip it. Samurais and mongols, awesome, I think I would have preferred a more linear, epic experience.

Following up RDR2 with an open world experience as empty and formulaic as this is hardly forgivable, especially because it LOOKS great and the japanese samurai-movie flair is spot on. It doesn't really compensate with a gripping storyline, either. BUT! The fighting is stylish and flawless, killing off a group of goons rarely felt more satisfying, especially after stand-offing the first few. The stealth mechanics are relatively solid, but it's going toe-to-toe that really sets things apart here.

If your looking for a open world that moves the genre forward, this isn't it. Expect cookie cutter ubisoft style objectives and little reason to "exist" and immerse yourself into the world. The story is mediocre at best. What this game does well, though, is the combat. Leagues above most other games on the market. The combat alone makes this a game worth experiencing and completely overshadows the blander aspects of the game. The art direction stands out as well, though not as much as the combat

I can see why so many people love it. But it's still the old Ubisoft formula of open-world. I do appreciate the developpers decision for a more slow-paced and contemplative approach to world exploration. The combat system is also really nice.

Ghost of Tsushima doesn't do anything new, nor is it trying to. Solid gameplay mechanics, graphics and storyline. The in-world atmosphere is scenic and truly reflects the setting and time period. My only issue with it is that enemies and encounters start feeling quite repetitive after a while.

Open world is amazing, after story activities are amazing. The only thing is the slight feeling of repetitive combat and the lack of emotions in some voice lines

Ghost of Tsushima gives good first impressions. It's genuinely the most visually striking open world game I have played. As someone who never bothers to engage with photo modes in games, even I have taken a few handfuls of nice screenshots. The story, however, is such a drag, and the main character is very one-dimensional. The open world does this game no favours, as each of its elements are copy-pasted and grow stale fast. Combat is fun, but not enough to save this game from mediocrity.

I was worried when it started off with hiding in bushes, picking off guards. I'm not sure how many more open world checklist games I can do. But where this makes up is gorgeous visuals and world, with a very meditative approach to the scenery and way you interact with the world. Great vibes. Combat is some of the best looking and feeling I've ever experienced. Story was OK. Enough to get through the whole main throughline. Can't see myself mopping up the repetitive side content though

Pretty impeccable aesthetically and in terms of combat, at least early on. The big negative is the enemy encampments/settlements all feel similar after a while (after all, Ghost of Tsushima is essentially an improved AC game), and I tended to get lazy in the end game & just did a firecracker + bomb + kunai for anyone left standing combo when it got challenging. Saying that, standoffs & killing people through screen doors never got old.

A very enjoyable game with stunning graphics, great meaty combat and plenty to do. The story is a bit ropey however. I liked some parts but it did lose me a few times also. There's a lot of side content but there is definitely better in other open world games and can get a bit grindy if your going for the 100%. Plat difficulty 3/10.
