It is visually and audibly a rare work. However, some repetitive puzzle and platform elements start to get boring after a while. It has a dialogue-free narrative that impressively conveys the five stages of grief, and in a way, leaves the story to the player's own interpretation, which was a detail I appreciated. Perhaps it could have been a much better work if it was shorter or offered a little more variety for gameplay.

Artistic, but not particularly stimulating in terms of gameplay.

It has no shortage of moments of beauty but doesn't seem to have much true depth to what it's saying, and the gameplay is negligible

Gris is a wonderful game about dealing with grief. The minimalist approach is will be offputting for many but the game touched me in exactly the way it was trying. If I had to nitpick, the game does lose it's thematic edge for quite a long chunk in the middle. I'm hoping to see more from Nomada in the future because there are very few studios who can call something of this quality a rookie effort.

Nice artwork and for the first 1-2 act, it was a "game" too. But then it becomes bland nonsense.

Thematically shallow but visually alluring, this game is someone taking the term "games are art" and applying it literally. The puzzles are one-dimensional and there's no real narrative aside from vague notions on the stages of grief, but this is a game that realizes its appeal functions on its aesthetic and it does a lot with it. The use of camera, color, and animations illustrate stunning scenery that makes this game unforgettable. But if you're looking beyond the art, you'll be disappointed.
