Simultaneously one of the most revolutionary and generic platformers ever. The way worlds are interconnected is dynamic and well designed even by today's standards and mechanically everything in this game feels really fluid. But at the same time, it's a formula that's been done to death, even if the platforming and level design in this game are great. I won't knock points off Jak for being formulaic, The game isn't bad for it, but having played dozens games like it makes this a bit tiring.

collect-a-thons are trash, even with higher resolution polygons

Collectathons were a sensible new direction for Naughty Dog with the Crash series's simpler setup having worn a bit thin, and post-Spyro games of this sort were roughly the direction prestige (and lesser) platformers would take for the PS2 period. Of course, that means there would be many, many titles that play just like this over the next several years. Still, this was among the high-profile ones at the head of that particular wave, with Naughty Dog's typically top shelf production value.

It has the feeling of an older 3d platform adventure game such as spyro but adds a lot of its own charm. Nothing really negative to say here.

A pretty fun 3D platformer, not one I'd put on par with Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie but a step up from Banjo-Tooie and Donkey Kong 64.

The part of me that I hate is the part of me that loves collect-a-thon platformers. Getting 100% is being better at a game than I'll ever be at life. But 101%? The laws of this universe no longer apply.

An ok game as it's really smooth to control. However these type of games I wouldn't replay them now simply because they don't have a numbered radar meter telling you where to go. You need that in these games otherwise you'll easily get lost in them.

Solid platformer. One of few collectathons I have the patience to play.

There are better and worse collection-based games to play. This is pretty fun but the mechanics, despite their refinement, still feels too loose. I just don't really enjoy these types of games.

Jak and Daxter in a lot of way heralded the end of an era. One of the few collectathons during this period of time. Each level is unique and loaded with cool visuals and enough variety to keep even those cynical about platformers entertained.
