Perfect Dark is a first-person shooter video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 video game console. It is considered the spiritual successor to Rare's earlier first-person shooter GoldenEye 007, with which it shares many gameplay features. Perfect Dark was first released in North America on 22 May 2000; PAL and NTSC-J releases followed soon afterwards. A separate Game Boy Color game, also titled Perfect Dark, was released in August 2000 as a supplement to the game and allows certain features within the Nintendo 64 game to alternatively be unlocked via a Transfer Pak.

I found the level design a bit less sharp than GoldenEye but this is still one of my favorite first person shooters. (He says, knowing full well that he's played less than ten first person shooters to the end credits in his life, making that an inane statement.) The plot is total Syfy channel original movie nonsense but all the more fun for it.

Goldeneye 2.0 essentially. Perfect Dark may not be the surprise masterpiece that it's predecessor was. All in all it stands as a worthy update with an intriguing story and some incredible music.

Good game. Not as good as Golden eye though who were the same makers of this game.

A massive improvement over Goldeneye, this game feels more complete in several ways. The graphics are better even on the same under-powered system, the mechanics of the gameplay are more refined, and the multiplayer strikes a better balance. In the cultural zeitgeist this is not remembered as fondly as Goldeneye but it is undoubtedly a better game overall.

It doesn't really hold up today, but at the time this was as good as it got.

It was ok. I got to the end of the first level, and shot the woman. It seemed boring. And, the vs. was boring, also. The graphics isn't that great - I guess.

One of the best shooters for multiplayer ever, still a favorite with my friends.

Takes Goldeneye and improves upon it with a lot of quality of life changes, better visuals/animation, and much more challenging difficulty. This game has what made goldeneye good and more, adding loads of missions and neat new gadgets and weapons. Like Goldeneye, it benefits significantly from emulation and playing it with a mouse and keyboard at 60 FPS. The original on the N64 had technical issues, but take that away and Perfect Dark's brilliance shines through.

I definitely remember as a fourteen year old being like, "fuck this, this isn't Goldeneye" but with the distance of time Perfect Dark was significantly better.
