Heart Gold and Soul Silver would be just as good if not better than the originals if not for a few minor details. The games seem to have slowed down and the DS is no GBA.

Great remake, but I absolutely didn't need the new gen pokemons.

Playing this game shows that adding 400 more Pokemon into a game doesn't make it better. I appreciate the new content but keeping the same engine and still doing absolutely nothing with the core mechanics make this more or less unnecessary.

Bounced back from the previous lackluster entry. The interconnectedness with world players was the main seller here, especially for trades.

The best game in the Pokemon series. It modernizes the originals in substantial ways, while also expanding upon it with an incredible amount of new content. On top of this new content, there's also a great multiplayer structure that allows you to play against other people and trade worldwide, which is a carryover from previous games. The battle tower alone will take up a lot of your time in the post game.
