A military shooter with a story that hits topics you don't really see in military shooters, and does them fairly well. But, the shooting is just ok, and outside of the big moments the story is pretty thin. A decent game with some pretty shocking moments, but it could have been better if it had a bit more to the gameplay and story.

A brilliantly subversive shooter that upends the tropes and cliches of the military shooter genre to create a powerful story about American imperialism and PTSD

A really different feeling shooter. It was novel and mixed in a good storytelling aspect that it wasn't just cut scenes.

The absolute commitment to making the story more than just a generic shooter story is admirable but it is still a very generic shooter at its core. I have to give it a lot of points for doing something that almost no big budget games ever do.

Ignoring the awful gameplay, I don't get how people think there's anything special about this game's plot. For a game that likes to exude the horrors of war, it has no qualms pushing a lot of unrealistic and laughable action movie set pieces with no sense of irony. Much of the big events of the story feel like cheap shock value, with writing that comes across as hard to believe and utterly stupid at times. The TWEEST at the end has to be one of the dumbest I've ever seen in video games.

I can give a lot of love to the story but I was really surprised when this started getting listed as such an underrated/overlooked game. I get that it was trying to be different but it's still a game and it never satisfied me as a game. Maybe that's the point? Doesn't make it easy to get through; there's a way to say what this game had to say and still be fun and this didn't do it. I could watch a movie.

Humdrum gameplay and a story that isn't nearly as clever as it thinks it is.

Way better than expected. Great storytelling, characters, and especially voice acting. They recorded all of the dialogue for this game in order and in one super long session so as the soldiers are reaching the end of their ropes, the strain and tiredness in their voices is real
