Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Game is really polished... attention to detail and quality is fantastic (UI style, animations, gameplay feel, etc). This game has personality & new creativity that breaks the rigid formula of prior 2d mario games. It feels like a modern 3d mario title, but in 2d. Game currency is useful. Every wonder seed mini game is crack... Also the badge system is like extra abilities that helps you out... kinda reminds me of castlevania aria of sorrow. Safety badge countering instant death pits is de best.

Nintendo out here still proving that they're the best developer in the world. I'm a 2D Mario guy so this is right up my alley. The Wonder gimmick is insane in the best way. So inventive and even funny sometimes. They really leaned in. And everything is simple to understand. Incredibly polished. Badges add a little depth to it, but it would be amazing even without them. Beautiful graphics. A banger soundtrack (there's a specific Wonder song I love). Doesn't overstay its welcome. Fantastic.

Worst 2D Mario I ever played. To complex, annoying flower guy who talks in every level, Bowser Junior is the only mini boss in this & then Bowser. You're forced to get a amount of seeds to fight Bowser Junior, you get these Royal seeds, once you get 6 of them you can do the Bowser World then face Bowser. It's terrible. You have to concentrate on your timing to jump on Q for the musical notes. Beat this game & happy that I don't have to play this ever again.

As a game, a fun romp that I finished surprisingly quickly (in terms to the main storyline). As part of a franchise, a breath of fresh air that offers a new life and future to Mario, right down to the voice acting by a true successor in Kevin Afghani
