A great combination of NES-level Mario presentation and the Wild West weirdness of Game Boy. I love the variety of the six worlds particularly Macro Zone which seems to be a appropriately direct - if not fully realized - counterpart to Super Mario 3's Giant Land. My only nitpick is that it's easy - especially the boss fights and, yes, that includes Wario. This game is very nostalgic of a summer at the beach I took as a kid where I played it all week.

For whatever reason, I skipped this in my childhood. It's clearly an improvement on the first game, and lays solid foundation for the far superior Wario Land. It's dated but fine by today's standards, but I think I would've loved it in the 90s.

Much tighter and more polished than the first one, and much more thoughtful about its weirdness. (I love the Jason Vorhees goombas so much.) The small size of the screen and the floatiness of the controls hold it back, but Wario is still an amazing creation, and this game maintains its own fun, weird identity.

This game is good until you play the last level in this. I've never seen this in any Mario game. If you get a game over on the last level Wario's castle, he takes the coins away & you have to replay the whole game over again to get the 6 coins just to replay the last level again. Why did they do this? It's a saved file on top of that.

It has the same problem I had with the original, the Game Boy's limitations are just too much to make a game of this scale. Fortunately, it's still pretty good within those limitations.

This was a short but nice little Mario experience with an off-kilter sort of feel to it. I remember getting a bit frustrated by the final level and last boss.
