There's not enough gaming in this game, and the story's not good enough to make up for it. I didn't even pay to play, and I still resented The Walking Dead for robbing me--of my time. It's competent but only just. Give it a pass. Spend that time better.

Just like who's line is it anyways , everything about Choice is made up and it doesn't matter. Kenny can suck my butt.

Heralded as a defining moment in interactive story telling, I was initially sucked in by the characters, narrative and the perception that my interactions and choices mattered. Spoiler alert ... they didn't. Any branching moment quickly returns to the strict narrative Telltale want you to follow. Once I figured that out, I didn't care about the characters or the 'interactive' experience, and TWD reveals itself to be neither a good movie nor a worthwhile gameplaying experience.

I know, I know, your choices don't always really matter. I don't care. It's slick and was one of the better games at making you feel for the characters and really invest in what happens.

I believe I originally would have rated this higher than I am now, but perhaps the Telltale formula has aged somewhat given my experience with their other games since this. I think there are still good moments, but there are weaknesses that are much more noticeable. The acting isn't particularly great, and some of the choice based mechanics are less useful than they let you think. That being said, I do think Lee and Clementine's story is good. Looking forward to the rest.

rvw. Good story. At its best it was probably a consistent 8 with 9-10 moments. But so much annoying QTE’s, needing to reload or dying stupidly, and the puzzles etc

Melhor que a serie de TV, embora necessite de mais tempo para criar empatia pelos personagens. Clementine é adorável.

Bugs, glitches, and some poor design hold back what could have been a stellar experience. This is some of the best storytelling video gaming has to offer.

A wonderful story with engaging characters. A great start to a series that got worse and worse with each release.

A Choose Your Adventure book in game format, but this worked really well. Mostly because Telltale hadn't flooded the market with these when it came out, so it was kind of a fresh, emotional experience at the time.

Great lead characters. The plot gets worse and worse with time. Your decisions have very little effect on the outcome, leaving you feeling like you've wasted your time. Needs more puzzles because the story isn't strong enough on its own.

Watching an extended cutscene. Sure, your choices affect the outcome of the game, but by how much, really? Your enjoyment will directly correlate to how much you enjoy the zombie genre. I enjoy zombies well enough, so this game was fun, but not fun enough to look for Season Two.

Each episode will thrill you, make you laugh, make you cry, warm your heart, break your heart, and finally destroy and then rebuild all faith you have in humanity, leaving you completely emotionally exhausted at the end of the two-hour episode. An absolute rollercoaster of emotional story-telling that should be experienced by everyone.

The great benefit of player choice in Telltale's TWD isn't that it adds narrative branching (it mostly doesn't), but that it heightens your immersion in an already pretty great story. Oftentimes when something bad happened it would feel like a consequence of my specific actions even though it usually wasn't. Add to this a great cast with thorny, conflict-ridden character relationships (much more akin to the comic than the TV show, in this regard) and the end result isn't far off a masterpiece.
