WWF No Mercy

2000
Fighting, Sports
WWF No Mercy allows players to compete for seven different WWF titles, with each belt getting its own unique story. Stories can be replayed, allowing players to defend their title in a storyline. Upon successful completion of a story mode, players will unlock the title they were competing for in the Exhibition mode, where titles can be won and defended as the players see fit. A maximum of four players can compete in a range of modes, including caged and ladder contests and pay-per-view events. The player can also create an own event and compete for WWF titles unlocked in Championship mode. Certain matches are held outside the ring, in four different backstage locations.

DIG DIG DIGGITY DAWG BREAK IT, so much fun, peak THQ wrestling game. Words can't describe how fun this is once you master it, just play it and enjoy the crazy challenges the game throws at you.

In terms of gameplay, it's identical to every other THQ wrestling game that was released on N64 around the time. Which isn't a bad thing, given that those games are stellar. However, what puts No Mercy ahead of those titles is the content it had - a ton of unlockables, a fun CAW system, and one of the earliest (and in some ways, one of the best) attempts at a story mode. There's a reason why so many people continue to mod and play this game the most out of the series. A true classic!

Other reviewers are wearing nostalgia glasses. In reality, it's ok except the gameplay is slow and the royal rumble is just awful, so tedious and impossible to throw anyone out, meanwhile you can get thrown out at random, and thus have to restart the whole tedious process. And the RR is a necessary part of story mode. Non-THQ wrestling games are better.

My sister and I used to play random royal rumbles over and over. What a game.

Despite the N64 having a terrible controller, the button configuration was simple and worked well here. This was THE couch game to play with friends (fuck both Goldeneye and Mario Kart). The create a wrestler was amazing for it's time, as the combination of accessories and moves seemed endless. You could easily lose yourself for days making CAWS. Button mashing to try and break a pin fall or submission was an intense battle amongst friends, so much so that our thumbs would be hurting for hours

I find this ok. They lack entrance and everything else in this game. Gameplay is good though as moves here are simplistic and really well done I find. This is more play your friends though in couch coop because the single player aspect in this is not good like the 2k series or later gens.
