Improves on the first one in every single way except for the box art. You can't improve on perfection.

I wouldn't say it's overrated, but....Really, it's just the vertical sections that turned me off. They were somehow worse than those in the first game, but everything else is near-perfect.

The best Mega man game I have ever played. 2 different modes in this from normal to hard. Unlike the first one where you have to beat in 1 sitting. This one there's a pass-code system to each of the levels you beat. Usually I beat this in 1 sitting since it takes me a bit over 1 hour to beat this game. I play this a lot of times over. They just made it a lot better than the 1st one with energy tanks to refill your health and made it easier.

Stupidly hard, bad level design.

I think I enjoyed this less than the first. The platforming sections feel less considerately designed, with some reliance on simply catching the player out with an unexpected death, rather than only challenging their skill at controlling the game. The boss fights are good fun however, and the game is appreciably one of the best made on the system.

You can argue which is better: 2 or 3 but it is certain that both are great and the peak of this franchise.

A remarkably better game than its prequel, boasting better level design and some really cool weapon upgrades. It's a bit overrated, though - some parts are heinously designed, such as the invisible floors in Wily's Castle or the one boss that requires you to have a full bar of crash bombs. I also thought the final boss was pretty crappy despite how goofy the idea of it was. Still, Megaman 2 is an iconic game that deserves its reputation as a classic, boasting challenging but fair gameplay.

I don't want to say that it is definitely better than the 1st game. Both have some annoyingly hard levels. I do really enjoy this game, and it has stood the test of time very well.

Some say this is the best title in the series of Mega Mans on the NES, I'll still say 3 is better. But this is really where it picked up. Figuring out what power works against what boss or enemies is fun in itself, and the levels are pretty well done! ... Except those appearing blocks. No. Nooo. I don't want to memorize a pattern and die a few times, it takes me out of the run-through-level gameplay. Very solid, worth playing, even now.

There is no mistake. Mega Man 2 is a great game. One of the best on the NES to be sure. (prepare for unprofessional ranting) --- BUT DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO $@#%#$ HARD??? Seriously the game goes beyond frustrating. Somehow this game cemented the ability to make a game difficult and wondrous all at the same time. Even Dark Souls doesn't have the ability to make me violently lash out like Mega Man Can.

The game that polished off some of the original's rough edges and made the series one of Capcom's mainstays.

The control, the enemy weapons you acquire, the level design, the graphical and musical presentation - this is NES Capcom at its best and absolutely a 2D shooter/platforming masterpiece.
