In the amount of time it took me to beat Tyson I could have learned how to actually box and not be 500 lbs.

This is probably my favourite game on the NES. We used to have school yard discussions on how to beat each boxer, and what the patterns were. Then we ran into Iron Mike. There were so many thrown controllers and foot stomping when it came to facing Tyson. It was a race to see who could beat him first. Friends would boast how they beat him easily, then were exposed as liars later on. Then one magic day, one of our friends ACTUALLY did beat him. It was the greatest day of all of our lives!.

An interesting sort of fusion between fighting and puzzle game, or I guess sort of a reflex-dependent puzzle game wearing a fighting game skin. I would rate it higher for its clever presentation and characters and iconic nature except that I get pissed off whenever I play it because I suck at it.

Even though it says Mike Tyson's punch out. They are showing the Mr. Dream version of the game. Only difference with Tyson's and this one are the Dream and Tyson stat. Game play is identical. You knock boxers down in this one and they get harder each time you progress through the game. I changed the rating from 100-80 because once you beat this some of the boxers are really annoying when you fight them.

I think it gets really lame pretty fast. I was never a fan of boxing, MMA, or wrestling games, and this one is the granddaddy of them all.

For a boxing game for the NES, this was quite impressive. The varied AI for the fighters really challenged the player to find ways to beat tougher opponents.

I can't think of a better game to be released on an 8-bit platform.

I still remember a kid at school telling me the code to skip right to Mike Tyson. I repeated it to myself over and over on the bus ride home. I couldn't believe it worked! 007 373 5963. Yup, still burned into my brain 35 years later.

It's pretty much the original boss rush game. Before Shadow of the Colossus, before Furi, it all started out here.

Any time I got close to beating Tyson he would always bite my ear off and then wind up in prison for raping someone.

Punch-Out is still a classic and remains one of the most compelling games the NES produced.
