New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Mario back to its basic, tried-and-true platform style and you really can't go wrong with it. This might have been a higher score if I played it instead of watched in on YouTube.

Have no issues with this. Not Nintendo at their most creative from a level design, but it was certainly passable, but I liked that they went back to this style. I'm a 2D Mario guy at heart so these types will generally appeal to me more than 3D, if done well.

I like the novelty of 4 players but the compromises they had to make to the level design really hurt it. For example, most levels end up being overly empty and simple just to give people space to move. I also am not fond of the game's physics which remove a lot of weight and momentum. On the other hand, there's some cool power ups that play with the level design in neat ways and there are a number of solid levels, but I think this game is too bare for me to call it particularly good.

Not so hot. It's baffling that Nintendo took a solid formula, slowed it the fuck down, slapped ugly graphics on it, and then made it a 4-player coop that was more aggressive than cooperative.

Putting 'New' in a title is a dumb move

Generic but undeniably fun; a fast food burger of a video game.

Although it had multiplayer, it felt bland most of the time. The Wii controller was okay to play with as well. Good, just doesn't hold up to Mario standards.

Awesome game.. It gets points down because of motion controls. I 100%ed this game back in the day completing this on my friend's console and now doing the same with my other friend. New power ups like the helicopter and shooting ice.

I can't ever remember a game bearing the name Mario being this lazy. The development team did the work to make the mechanics fun to play but they put it into a slew of poorly designed levels which, at best, desperately fail to recapture the spark from Mario Bros. 3. It's also laughably easy. It's almost a shame for Nintendo to slap the name "Mario" on this but "new" is equally egregious.
