The Mario equivalent of a PC game mission pack. It's fine for folks who beat the original, but as a full game, its difficulty cliff...can't call it a curve...is too much. It worked best as the primary selling point for Mario All Stars.

Every single level has something that's total bullshit. I hate the wind levels the mostest.

I posted on my SMB review that I never made it past 8-2 but in this one I don't think I got past 2-2. fjlkjfalslhdfgfd

Basically an expansion pack for the original SMB, your enjoyment of this game will depend on how much you like puzzles that kill you over and over and over before you can solve them. That's not really my thing, but I admire the creativity and care put into killing you over and over. That said, no one making a kill-you-lots platformer today would make you restart at the beginning of the level, or include a limited stock of lives. If you play this, play the All-Stars version with a per-level save.

One of those sequels for people who've mastered the preceding game inside and out, and want an even harder challenge to move on to. Nice if that's what you want. If not, play for a bit to see just how cleverly the developers can pull the rug out from under you, then move on.

This clear weak point for the classic 2d Mario games is still quite playable. It suffers from some bad level design, not surprising considering these levels were cut from Mario Bros., and a lack of world coherence. It's also surprising to me this was considered too difficult for American audiences, not that it isn't hard but another complaint is that the difficulty drastically changes from level to level, getting harder and easier seemingly at random.

developer version of mario maker... lots of troll and difficult challenges. So much bs. Only enjoyed as much as I did due to nintendo switch online time reversal, otherwise it'll be completely unplayable and would give it 70~75. Hate the dumb mazes.
